Propelling Sustainable Thrills

We aim to be the most thrilling theme parks on the planet, so we need to do our part to protect it. We’re actively working to reduce the impact of our operations on the environment.

Recycling & Sustainable Packaging

Our coasters aren’t the only thrills at the parks—we’ve also got mouth-watering cuisines that take your taste buds for a ride. We serve up these delectable dishes with sustainably made, compostable containers, plates, and cutlery. Plus, we recycle plastic and aluminum products.

Water Conservation

You might need to take a break from thrills, but we never take a break from sustainability. Decreasing water use can greatly decrease our impact on the environment, which is why we replaced all of the fixtures in our restrooms with contactless options, including toilets, sinks, and air dryers. It’s healthier for the environment, and healthier for our guests! A win-win.

Decarbonization

We take fun in the sun to a whole new level! Two of our parks, Six Flags Great Adventure and Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, are powering your thrills with solar panels. Plus, these larger-than-life power structures are providing covered parking, which means our guests aren’t using as much energy to cool off their cars after a full day in the summer heat.

Giving our Safety Pledge

When you visit one of our parks, your focus should be on having fun. You come here to kick back and relax, which is only possible if you feel safe. At Six Flags, we think about safety so you don’t have to.

Ride Safety Leadership

Your safety is our top priority. We don’t just meet safety standards—we exceed them, and we’ll never compromise on health and safety. Our highly trained team of engineers, maintenance staff, and third-party professionals inspect each and every ride before the park opens, so you can count on your visit to Six Flags being just as safe as it is enjoyable.

COVID-19 Response

Health and safety go hand-in-hand (or… elbow-to-elbow). That’s why we took action at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic to reopen safely. We invested in touchless technology, from screening detection systems to contactless transactions, and created Clean Teams who championed sanitation, hygiene, and cleanliness at each park based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the government, and the scientific community.

Top-Notch Water Quality

As the summer heats up, our waterparks are the best place to cool off. In addition to the safety you see, like our incredible team of lifeguards and security officers, there’s a lot going on behind the scenes to keep you safe, too! There are always staff on hand to monitor and adjust water chemical reading levels so our pools and attractions are safe for everyone to enjoy. And you don’t have to just take our word for it—we have an independent facility check our water quality on a regular basis, too.

Strengthening Our Communities

We are passionate about where we live, work, and play, and we want to bring the fun of Six Flags out of the park and into our communities. We’re a committed community partner and invest in local organizations and initiatives.

Philanthropy

Each day, we see kids experiencing world-class thrills for the first time in their lives. That’s why we’re so passionate about giving back to children in our communities through academic achievement programs in science, math, and literacy, and community drives for toys, books, and food. After all, children today are leaders tomorrow—some of them may even end up designing their own coasters in the future!

Disaster Relief Coordination

When disaster strikes, Six Flags is there to help. We partner with state and local emergency response units to help coordinate relief efforts in the event of hurricanes, wildfires, and other natural disasters. And when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, we stepped up by offering our parks as testing and vaccination sites, and donating food and personal protective equipment (PPE) supplies to our communities.

Accommodations for Guests with Disabilities

Six Flags has thrills for everyone—with or without disabilities. Our Guest Safety and Accessibility Guides for each park include descriptions, sensory information, and physical requirements for each ride, so guests can make the best choice about how to enjoy their best day at Six Flags. Plus, we were the first family of parks to be designated Certified Autism Centers by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES). Our team members are trained to help guests with cognitive disorders, and we provide sensory spaces where guests can relax in a less stimulating environment.

Supporting Our People

Our team members are the cornerstone of our business. We’re a vibrant and motivated team that actively develops valuable leadership skills while having fun. Respect and human rights, including fair working conditions and competitive wages, are fundamental to Six Flags.

Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI)

Diversity and inclusion are, most importantly, the values we should all uphold. We do not tolerate racism, discrimination, or hateful behavior in any form. In addition to creating a Diversity & Inclusion council that provides regular feedback on our DEI initiatives, we have developed a more transparent hiring and promotion process focused on providing opportunities to diverse candidates. In a recent salary and wage analysis, no significant disparity by race or gender was found. But we won’t settle for what we’ve already achieved—we are constantly exploring opportunities to be more inclusive in everything we do.

Worker Safety

The safety and security of our employees is imperative. Our best-in-class safety and security program proactively assesses risks and strives to eliminate unsafe conditions. If accidents do happen, we incorporate the lessons learned into future trainings and policies to prevent future occurrences.

Robust Training

We are always learning and are never stagnant. Our ongoing training program enables our staff to have the knowledge and resources they need at the right times. Our training program addresses critical situations such as active shooter drills, predator training, evacuation drills, tactical communications, emergency disaster preparedness, and guest code of conduct enforcement. When incidents arise, our team members have the skills to best handle the situation.

Promoting a Healthy Society

The health and safety of community members—human and animal alike—is essential to a functioning society. We do our part to promote a healthy society whenever possible.

COVID-19 Testing and Vaccinations

To support vaccination efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic, we donated more than $12.5 million worth of single-day admission tickets to individuals who got their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. We partnered with state and local efforts to use our parks as mass testing and vaccination sites, and we donated food and critically needed personal protective equipment (PPE) supplies, including masks, to our local communities.

Animal Rescue, Rehabilitation, & Conservation

The 1,200 animals in our care at Six Flags Great Adventure and Six Flags Discovery Kingdom are treated as members of the Six Flags family. Many of them have been rescued from the wild and received medical care and attention from our staff in order to survive. In order to support the animals outside of our facilities, our entertaining and educational experiences promote animal conservation and inspire future generations to protect animals and their habitats.

Conducting Ethical Business

Throughout our more than 60-year history, Six Flags has been committed to conducting business in a responsible, honest, and ethical manner. It’s a principle we stand by at every level of our business—from the Board of Directors to part-time park staff.

Board Diversity & Independence

The Six Flags Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee strives to create a diverse board of directors—diversity of race, gender, ethnicity, and age, as well as diversity of opinions, perspectives, and experiences. Five of our six directors are independent, two are female, and 50% identify as diverse based on gender, race, or ethnicity.

Senior Leadership Diversity

It’s important that our senior leadership team makes up the same diversity as the communities where we work, live, and play. We are increasing the ethnic and gender diversity of our leadership team by actively hiring and promoting individuals with diverse experience so they can bring unique perspectives to the table.

Business Ethics

For us, good corporate governance means going beyond compliance. It means instituting and maintaining practices that represent strong business ethics and ensuring we communicate consistently, honestly, and transparently.

Consumer Privacy

We strive to protect your data to the highest standards. We regularly review the security of our network and data and make changes as necessary for your safety and security. We are always innovating, constantly evaluating new technology to safeguard your private information.
