Park’s Summer Season Kicks off May 27 with Upgrades to a Classic Coaster, Opening Day of Hurricane Harbor, and Final Weekend of Tapas & Tequila
AUSTELL, Georgia — May 23, 2022 — Six Flags Over Georgia—the Thrill Capital of the South— invites guests to celebrate the unofficial start of summer this Memorial Day Weekend, May 27-30.
The park announced today that The Great American Scream Machine re-opens this Friday, May 27, after a multi-year re-tracking project. The updated coaster features new track, new wood throughout most of the structure, a renovated queue house and over 400 gallons of fresh paint. This classic, wooden coaster has thrilled guests for nearly fifty years, and to celebrate its grand re-opening Six Flags Over Georgia will be handing out red, white and blue leis to the first 500 riders on May 27.
Guests can escape the summer heat at Hurricane Harbor, a waterpark inside of Six Flags Over Georgia included with park admission. The waterpark opens for the 2022 season Friday, May 27 and will be open daily through July 31.
This weekend is the last call for Tapas & Tequila, presented by ¡Viva Tequila Festival!. Saturday and Sunday, May 28 and 29, is the last chance to experience this one-of-a-kind fiesta featuring six mouthwatering small plate and tequila pairings and captivating live entertainment. Families can visit Six Flags Over Georgia and Six Flags White Water all season long with the new Junior Pass, free for children ages 3-5. Junior Passes can be ordered online at sixflags.com/overgeorgia, but must be processed in person at the park by Monday, May 30.
